Consider 3D printing for small lots
Under 100 pcs, molding (with tooling) is costly. Consider SLS nylon 3D printing — faster, no tooling, ideal for validation.
Tooling is a one-time cost; production has no hard MOQ. T1 samples from 50–100; best unit price typically from 500. Pilot lots of 50–200 available before ramp.
Simple single-cavity 10–15 days; medium 15–25; multi-cavity precision 25–45. Engineers schedule from 3D + specs; rush can cut 20–30%.
Commodity: ABS, PP, PE, PS, PC. Engineering: PA66, POM, PBT, PMMA, PC+ABS. High-perf: PEEK, PPS, LCP, PI. Elastomers: TPE, TPU, silicone.
Standard ±0.1mm; precision to ±0.05mm via gate/vent/cooling, tool steel (P20/718/S136), and process control. Provide golden sample or GD&T for precision parts.
Al tools: ~30–50% of steel cost, 7–10 days, good for <1000 validation. P20: 300–500k shots. H13/718: 1M+ for hot/filled long runs. If production is certain, start with P20/718.
Structural issues, flash, ejector marks covered in warranty. We maintain (clean/lube/wear check) during production; non-abuse defects within tool life are covered.
