Prototypes validate before production: cosmetics, fit, function, user research. Faster (1–7 days) and cheaper for rapid design iteration.
SLA ±0.1mm for complex/thin/cosmetic fast samples. CNC ±0.05mm in PC/ABS/Al with better strength/finish for functional tests. Budget permitting, make both.
Typically 15–25 parts per silicone tool (±0.2mm). PU grades can mimic ABS/PP/PC/clear; color matchable — good for 10–50 display samples.
Base: sand (Ra0.8–1.6), blast, polish. Paint: matte/gloss/metal/texture. Coatings: vacuum metalize, hydrographics. Special: leather/matte UV, silk/pad print, soft overmold.
SLA resin and RIM PU clear parts reach ~85–90% after polish for lamps/windows. CNC PMMA ~92% for higher optical needs.
Strength: CNC 6061 or PA/PEEK. Heat: PEEK 260°C, PPS 200°C, Al 150°C. Conductive: Al/Cu CNC. Soft: silicone-tool TPU/TPE. Metal: SLM 316L/TC4.
